Why am I here?
My biggest goal is to make the lives of teachers easier. Listen, teaching is hard! You are busy, overworked, tired, frustrated and on top of that you are being expected to come up with amazing content??? In your free time, right? Having taught secondary science for 11 years in a large public school, I understand how hard it can be to do everything that you really want to do. I would become so frustrated about not having the time and energy to explore, think and create. I felt stifled!
I don’t want anyone else to feel that way. I will be writing a series of classroom organizational posts that will highlight all of my favorite classroom strategies to keep you and the kiddos organized. I also have a lot of ideas and pictures from my own (former) classroom that always made students, parents and teachers excited to walk into my classroom. I’ve walked around the halls a time or two, there may be a couple classrooms that come close, but I have to say, mine was pretty fun to be in.
My passion
I LOVE to write content! Some people hate this part, but it is something I’ve always enjoyed. The down and dirty, standards based, heavy hitting science content that we need in classrooms. As a secondary teacher, I often lamented the fact that it is hard to find good things out there. Not that there aren’t good sites out there. Thank you Mister Guch, The Biology Corner, and University of Colorado for being there in my time of need! But there is sooooo much more for the little kiddos that I found the science to be “fluffy.” Not the kind of work that made my kids think, to draw connections and to really develop a deep understanding of the content. So in addition to the fun classroom decoration and organizational ideas, I also want to share with you my ideas for labs, lessons, and activities that will save you time and energy!
